BMW and Pokemon have teamed up to create a Pikachu-themed electric car for Gamescom 2022, a leading trade fair for digital games culture in Europe. The companies are showcasing the Mini Aceman Concept through the event’s Experience Pokemon exhibit.
The collaboration of BMW and Pokemon became one of the highlights and surprises during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on Wednesday, Aug. 24. The announcement of their partnership for a new concept car really caught the attention of the attendees since it was an unlikely alliance.
As posted on The Gamer, the Mini Aceman Concept is a brand-new fully electric Mini crossover with perfectly clear Pokemon features. Once the Pokemon mode is switched on in the car, the driver or passenger will be greeted by Pikachu through the large OLED screen. This is activated whenever someone enters the vehicle.
Moreover, since this is a Pokemon car, there is also an external LED projector that allows people to watch their favorite Pokemon episode while sitting atop the car's roof rack. The MINI is one of the new main sponsors of Gamescom’s merchandise area and an official mobility partner of the trade fair as well.
The fair will exclusively present the BMW x Pokemon’s MINI Concept Aceman with the unique Pokemon Mode. The most sought-after One-Off for MINI and gaming fans is the result of Pokemon and MINI’s joint effort.

In any case, the convention for the largest games is running from Aug. 24 to 28 and is currently being held in Cologne, Germany. It is expected to attract gaming fans from around the world. The exhibition space measures 220,000 square meters, and about 1,100 exhibitors have set up their booths to display their technologies, items, and more.
"A major feature of MINI is the positive and future-oriented approach to individual mobility as well as the distinctive design of the vehicles. Gamification will play an increasingly important role in the MINI of the future and offer a unique experience for our customers,” MINI’s company head, Stefanie Wurst, said in a press release.
She added, In cooperation with Pokémon, the shared joy of the franchise brings two iconic characters, that are a perfect match, together with millions of fans. This is how we reach a whole new target group at Gamescom 2022, as an event for modern fandom, gaming, and pop culture."
