Avid anime fans care about the production studio of their favorite anime series. It matters because long-time followers can distinguish varying aesthetics among different companies and the unique ways they adapt manga chapters into a TV series. So many fans are worried when rumors started to circulate that WIT Studio will no longer work on “Attack on Titan” season 4.
Over a month before “Attack on Titan” season 4 was even confirmed, rumors started to spread online that WIT Studio decided to no longer work on the anime series. However, it is important to note that official confirmation regarding this matter has yet to surface.
‘Attack on Titan’ season 4: New production studio confirmed?
The first report about the production studio change for “Attack on Titan” season 4 came from YonkouProductions last May. The source told Twitter followers that it was “confirmed” WIT Studio will not produce the final installment.
There was no specific reason provided for the rumored production change in “Attack on Titan” season 4. But the same source suggested that WIT probably wanted to free up resources and animators because the anime series based on Hajime Isayama’s same title manga has been quite demanding.
So it's confirmed that this is the last season of Attack on Titan being done by Studio WIT.

YonkouProductions also reported that each episode of “Attack on Titan” required WIT to dispense over 30 animators and more than 10 animation supervisors. Additionally, WIT is also in charge of the recently launched “Vinland Saga” anime series that some fans think might have factored into letting go of the “Attack on Titan” season 4 project.
‘Attack on Titan’ season 4 release date
At the time, it was also reported that Kodansha Publishing has yet to decide on which studio to hire for “Attack on Titan” season 4. But fans are already speculating that it could be Production I.G considering that the company is not a stranger to the “Attack on Titan” series.
This “Attack on Titan” season 4 rumor started to spread around the time of “One Punch Man” season 2’s release. The latter also changed studios and was produced by J.C.Staff instead of Madhouse that worked on season 1. And many fans have had some fiery comments about the quality of season 2 under a new studio and new director in comparison to the first season.
For now, fans will have to take these rumors with a pinch of salt and wait for any official announcement. Whether “Attack on Titan” season 4 is going to be produced by a new team, it has already been announced to premiere in fall 2020.
