RESTON, Va., March 14, 2018 -- Unissant, Inc., an advanced data analytics and business solutions provider, today announced that it was selected by Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch (AFHSB) of the Defense Health Agency to provide data management and application development support for the operation of the Defense Medical Surveillance System (DMSS) and its associated applications at the Division of Data Management and Technical Support (DMTS).
DMSS is the DoD’s premier epidemiological resource, and is a continuously growing longitudinal database of health-related information on Service members consisting of over 3 billion data records including medical encounters (hospitalizations, outpatient visits, immunizations, reportable medical events, health risk appraisals, and deployment health assessments), demographic characteristics, and military experiences (deployments, assignments, casualty information) of military Service members and medical encounters on military associated populations.
Unissant will also support management of the technical infrastructure and databases that support AFHSB’s mission of comprehensive health surveillance [i.e., DMSS, Defense Medical Epidemiological Database (DMED), and DoD Serum Repository (DoDSR), and Project Management Information System (ProMIS)] through industry-leading best practices in database architecture and modeling, data processing in Big Data environments through Informatica and web application development support, while protecting and enhancing the usability of data with user-access control management practices and thorough documentation of all aspects of DMTS processes and environments.
“We’re very excited for this opportunity,” said Manish Malhotra, Chairman and CEO of Unissant. “This is Unissant’s first win on the Health IT SIN and gives us the opportunity to expand on our strong past performance within the Defense Health Agency (DHA) as well as continue to enhance our data management offering.”
