The soft launch of the “Apex Legends Mobile” went live on Tuesday. While the game is now playable on an array of Android and iOS devices, EA noted that the progress players made during the early access period would not be carried over once the title launches worldwide.
The limited regional launch of “Apex Legends Mobile” was initially slated for the end of February. A slight delay moved its early access release to this week, and the game is now available to install via Google Play Store and Apple App Store for fans in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia.
While “Apex Legends Mobile” is still in early access and free-to-play, EA confirmed in a blog post that it will feature an in-game store similar to its PC and console versions. That means players can purchase cosmetic items, premium Battle Pass, and other upgrades. The early version of the game will also offer a PremiumPLUS tier of Battle Pass that EA says will grant players with more levels, bonus XP, and rewards.
The mobile game will only feature nine Legends, including Caustic. But “Apex Legends Mobile” players can only use the poisonous gas expert once they unlock Battle Pass level 25. This may be one of the areas where in-game purchases might make sense for some players.
Since the game is still in early access, EA hinted at possible in-game store tweaks along the way. The in-game store will only be available until May 3. It is worth noting, though, that any progress made during the limited regional launch will not carry over once “Apex Legends Mobile” is released worldwide. The same applies to purchases and unlocked items.
However, game purchases will not go to waste. EA confirmed these would be converted into in-game currency in time for the global launch as long as they use the same account. “As a token of appreciation for our limited regional launch players, you will receive an extra 25% bonus in-game currency credited to your account,” EA said. The global release date for the final version of “Apex Legends Mobile” is still unknown, but EA says it is scheduled “later this year.”
