The estranged couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, fortunately, arrived at an initial children custody arrangement before being required to settle it through a court trial. More importantly, this part of their divorce proceedings was tackled ahead of the holidays.

The Jolie-Pitt family will most likely find a way to celebrate the holidays presumably according to to the said custody arrangement. But what was clear during Christmas Eve was that the actress went through some stores in Los Angeles with their 12-year-old Shiloh as well as the 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. The actress and her three kids visited various shops for some last-minute Christmas shopping.

Meanwhile, Pitt has yet to appear publicly with his children this holiday season. But this might be explained by the reported provisions of his custody arrangement with Jolie. Us Weekly reported earlier this month that the “World War Z” star “got what he wanted” which is, generally, “a deal that gives Brad joint physical and legal custody of the children.”

In late November, Jolie’s lawyer Samantha Bley DeJean confirmed that the actress arrived at an agreement with Pitt’s camp about the children’s custody. “A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge,” DeJean said in a statement. “The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial. The filing and details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.”

While Pitt’s holiday plans with his children are still unknown, there were reports that the kids spent an overnight stay at his house for his 55th birthday a couple of weeks ago. All six children were reportedly present at the celebration. However, an insider also explained to PEOPLE, “It is not permanent but rather a temporary agreement in place, for now, to keep things moving along in the right direction.”
