NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 18, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American Red Cross of Coastal Virginia has received a $50,000 donation from Norfolk, Va.-based PRA Group (Nasdaq:PRAA), a global leader in acquiring and collecting nonperforming loans.

Kevin Stevenson, president of PRA Group, presented a $50,000 check to Lorri Powers, executive director of the American Red Cross of Coastal Virginia, during a blood drive at PRA’s Norfolk headquarters on Wednesday, January 13. Stevenson also serves on the American Red Cross of Coastal Virginia’s board of directors.
“PRA has made a long-term commitment to supporting the American Red Cross in its lifesaving mission,” said Stevenson. “Every time there is a disaster or an emergency, the Red Cross is there to provide shelter, comfort and support to those in need. The $50,000 donation from PRA will support four campaigns in Hampton Roads in 2016, with the goal of saving lives and providing continuing education:
- Home fire campaign: to provide and install 571 smoke detectors in the Coastal Virginia region, and 4,000 statewide;
- Blood drives: 250 events to be held in 10 cities, with four events scheduled at PRA Norfolk locations;
- Lifesaving skills classes: with goal of education and certification of 43,000; and
- A Salute to Service: to honor heroes who have made significant contributions as emergency and disaster responders.
PRA Group has supported the American Red Cross with major contributions for more than 10 years to help provide assistance to victims of natural disasters and other emergencies.
