“American Horror Story” Season 8’s trailer recently dropped and it got fans losing their minds. While the show uses an anthology approach to each of its installment, it’s now combining two previous themes for season 8, Variety reported.
The showrunners opted to coalesce the elements and casts of “Murder House” and “Coven,” two of the most popular installments of the franchise. In the trailer, “American Horror Story” Season 8 starts off with a city full of panicking people.
True to its subtitle, “Apocalypse,” the whole premise of the next installment is centered on the end of days as a deadly radiation has apparently caused a fallout in various territories. It’s still unclear what caused this radiation but given that there are burned-out cars and buildings in the teaser clip, it’s safe to assume that a biological weapon has been unleashed upon the population. “American Horror Story” Season 8 will feature a lot of actors from previous installments, with a few of them taking on multiple roles.
For instance, Sarah Paulson is reprising her role as Cordelia Foxx apart from her new character that she’ll be playing. What’s more, Taissa Farmiga is set for double duty as she’s going to play her “Murder House” character Violet Harmon as well as “Coven” witch Zoe Benson. “American Horror Story” Season 8 will also have Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Dylan McDermott, Frances Conroy, and Emma Roberts returning.
Aside from these cast members, the character from “Murder House” dubbed Rubber Man is also seen creeping up on the ceiling and seemingly trying to snatch one of the unsuspecting characters. Given that there’s radiation contamination involved, the majority of the film seems to focus in a shelter called Outpost 3. However, there are scenes in the “American Horror Story” Season 8 trailer where shots were filmed outside.
As the next installment will combine “Murder House” and “Coven,” most of their themes are heavily featured in the teaser clip. From torture and blood sprays to eerie candles and Satan references, “American Horror Story” Season 8 is sure to send heartbeats galloping when it premieres on Sept. 12.
