‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ season 4 is scheduled for a September premiere. It is set to feature a host of brand new characters. New speculations emerged regarding the possible introduction of Ghost Rider into the series.
According to Den of Geek, the incoming season is scheduled to air on September 20, 2016 on ABC. The network renewed the popular television show for a fourth run last March 2016. The series began with high ratings but with mixed reviews. Eventually, ratings began to decline while reviews improved.
Season 3’s principal cast members included Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Ming Na-Wen as Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Grant Howard and HIVE, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson a.k.a. Quake, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Alphonso MacKenzie, Nick Blood as Lance Hunter, and Luke Mitchell as Lincoln Campbell.
According to Cheat Sheet, several changes took place in the preceding season including Daisy leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. to become Quake and Phil demoted from being the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
When asked about Phil’s possible replacement as director during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gregg replied, “I was not given a clear answer. I don’t know that it’s been determined… It all depends when the glorious Nick Fury [Samuel L. Jackson] returns from the cold and the shadows.” However, he expressed his excitement over having Melinda as the newest S.H.I.E.L.D. director. He said, “I’d love it if it was [her]…That would be magnificent. She has earned that right and she is a commander that Coulson would absolutely follow with absolute loyalty.”
Meanwhile, speculations emerged of Ghost Rider’s possible appearance in the new season. According to Screen Crush, a casting call was recently placed for a pair of Latino brothers – one described as “always the most dangerous person in the room” and the other “paralyzed in a wheelchair.”
The description was related to the characters Ghost Rider Robbie Reyes and his handicapped younger brother Gab from the comic book ‘Marvel Now!’ by Marvel Comics. However, this remains unconfirmed as of the present.
‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ is an action-adventure and superhero television series created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen based on the fictional law enforcement and counter-terrorism agency featured in the original Marvel comic books. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is produced by Marvel Television, ABC Studios and Mutant Enemy Productions.
