Another reminder of the fragile shape of the Chinese economy weighed on the Aussie dollar which relinquished some of its gains on the week. Consumer prices in China held steady at 1.4 percent in March, evidence of an economy on a weaker footing.
The Aussie dollar has been flying higher this week after the nation's central bank unexpectedly opted against a rate cut from 2.25 percent which triggered short Aussie positions to get squeezed higher.
