‘13 Reasons Why’ Season 3 Update: Filming Delayed as Production Focuses on Strengthening Plot

“13 Reasons Why” season 3 has already been green-lighted by Netflix despite the suicide drama’s second installment receiving bad reviews. Paramount Pictures, one of the entities handling the show’s production, is reportedly going to pay Analy High School $66,000 to film in the location.

This school is the same place where the show filmed its first two installments. Fans who wish to see the cast and crew in action can travel to Sebastopol, California, where Analy High is located.

The teen drama is set to take over the campus for a good 30 days. Moreover, the agreement revealed that filming for the show would take place between mid-June and mid-December, Otaku Art reported.

“13 Reasons Why” season 3’s production has been purposely delayed by its creators as they’re giving their writing team some room to develop the show’s plotline. This is a sound decision given that the suicide drama’s poor rating was heavily attributed to how poorly the storyline was written.

Critics said that if not for the cast's brilliant acting – particularly Dylan Minnette’s performance – the show would’ve received harsher feedback. Now, it seems that Netflix is taking this criticism to heart and wants to correct it by developing a stronger plot.

One of the mistakes that critics pointed out was how the show handled the courtroom scene, particularly the rather droning monologue explaining the difference between gender reputations. The show’s critics said that this scene would’ve been better off being performed by the cast through their struggles with finding their place in society.

Fans can expect to see relatable characters again in the third installment, except Katherine Langford, the actress playing Hannah Baker. Langford said that even though she wasn’t part of the show going forward, she wants to keep her relationship with the fans as the show has been a huge part of her life. “13 Reasons Why” season 3 will premiere sometime next year.
