CLEARWATER, Fla., Dec. 05, 2016 -- Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq:TECD) proudly announced that it has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). This marks the 12th straight year that Tech Data has received a perfect score on the CEI, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality that is administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.
“We are honored to once again be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality,” said Beth Simonetti, senior vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer at Tech Data. “This recognition reflects Tech Data’s ongoing commitment to providing a diverse and inclusive environment in which all of our employees can thrive. The recent launch and overwhelming success of our LGBTA employee resource group, SPECTRUM, reinforces the culture of acceptance that we are proud to foster for our LGBT employees and allies.”
Tech Data joins the ranks of 517 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year. The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. Tech Data’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
“Through 15 editions of the annual Corporate Equality Index, major private sector employers have demonstrated over and over that inclusion is not just the right thing to do, it makes for a stronger, more successful business,” said Deena Fidas, director of HRC’s Workplace Equality Program. “From centuries-old companies to those that have existed for just a few years, major employers have adopted LGBT-inclusive policies and benefits at rates that continue to outpace lawmakers and lead the way forward.”
