For weeks, a lot of users have praised the team behind Unc0ver that allowed for the possibility of an iOS 12 jailbreak. Unfortunately, its scope has only been limited to devices running on A8X through A11 processors.
This means that the current iOS 12 jailbreak only supports the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPad air, and sixth-generation iPad. Devices that have been restricted are the iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPads released in 2018, Wccftech reported.
Until now, it’s still unclear when an iOS 12 jailbreak will be released that will cater to the restricted gadgets mentioned above. However, the developers did announce recently that they’ve made a partial-support for the excluded devices.
Partial support, in this case, means that the Unc0ver iOS 12 jailbreak will be able to liberate A12 to 12X Bionic devices but not much else. What’s more, Cydia doesn’t support these gadgets either, meaning installing jailbreak tweaks is also unavailable.
The good news is that the researchers are making progress in creating an authentic iOS 12 jailbreak for all Apple devices. The bad news is that it may take a while before it caters everybody. And with Apple strengthening their own security with each update and releases, the developers are playing catch-up to the Cupertino-based tech giant.
As for users who have been using the Unc0ver tool for an iOS 12 jailbreak and experiencing a reboot during the process, simply activate airplane mode before restarting the whole thing. Also, ensure that the device doesn’t have an OTA file stored as it will result in a respring loop.
Lastly, those who are wondering why their device is reverting back to its non-jailbroken state after rebooting it should know that this is normal. To activate the iOS 12 jailbreak, simply run the Unc0ver app and the device will be liberated shortly after.
