“Elementary” Season 6 only has three episodes left before it ends and fans are savoring each investigation by Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Dr. Watson (Lucy Liu). Their latest case involved the eccentric millionaire Henry Baskerville, a modern twist to the classic story from its original source tale “The Hounds of Baskerville.”
While the episode was engaging enough, showrunners opted to not reference a single narrative in the ongoing major storyline of the police procedural. This decision is somewhat head-scratching given that there are only three more episodes left in “Elementary” Season 6, the last two of which have been written in tandem as a two-story arc, TV Fanatic reported.
Showrunners have yet to comment why they went down that route. Moving on, however, the next episode will likely follow a similar plotline, although it’s possible it will give an allusion to the impending end of “Elementary” Season 6.
The two-story arc will feature a clash between Sherlock and his former friend Michael (Desmond Harrington). “Elementary” Season 6 has already established that Michael is currently the greatest threat to Sherlock and Dr. Watson, with this presence endangering not only the people of New York but Sherlock and Dr. Watson’s relationship as well.
Michael has been portrayed as a calculating killer, although he has yet to commit such an act in “Elementary” Season 6. That is poised to change, however, as episode 20 – titled “Fit to Be Tied” – will have Sherlock and Watson investigating a murder case. The victim is Michael’s latest prey, spurring his former friend to chase down clues surrounding the murder.
The last episode, “Whatever Remains, However Improbable,” will threaten Sherlock and Dr. Watson’s partnership because of the murder investigation ignited by Michael. The two-arc episodes will air on Sept. 10 and Sept. 17 respectively, from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
