Welspun Corp shares surged to an all-time high on Friday after the Indian steel pipe manufacturer announced a major $1.8 billion order that will be supplied from its U.S. manufacturing facility.
The company’s stock jumped as much as 14.8% to a record 2,288 rupees, significantly outperforming the broader Nifty 50 index, which traded largely flat during the session. The sharp rally reflected investor optimism over the size of the new contract and its potential contribution to Welspun Corp’s future revenue.
Welspun disclosed the order in a statement released late Thursday, saying the contract is expected to be executed during fiscal years 2028 and 2029. While the company did not provide further details about the customer in the announcement, the deal represents a significant addition to its pipeline business in the United States.
Following the new $1.8 billion contract, Welspun Corp’s global order book is expected to climb to a record $4.4 billion. The expanded backlog provides the company with greater revenue visibility over the coming years and highlights strong demand for its steel pipe products.
The U.S. order is particularly significant because it will be fulfilled through Welspun’s American operations, strengthening the company’s position in one of its key international markets. Large-scale pipe contracts are typically linked to energy, infrastructure and transportation projects, making order-book growth an important indicator of future business activity for manufacturers in the sector.
Welspun Corp’s record share price also underscores the market’s positive response to the company’s expanding international order pipeline. With the latest contract pushing its global backlog to unprecedented levels, investors are increasingly focused on how effectively the company can execute the project and translate its strong order book into earnings growth.
Welspun Corp shares remained among the standout performers in the Indian market on Friday as the $1.8 billion U.S. order fueled renewed buying interest in the stock.
