Turkish industrial production rises year-on-year in December

Turkish industrial production expanded year-on-year in December. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, industrial production grew 8.7 percent in December, as compared with November’s 7 percent year-on-year growth.

Looking at the sub sectors, production in mining and quarrying index was up 14 percent year-on-year, whereas manufacturing index was up 8.9 percent. Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index recorded a year-on-year rise of 5.7 percent in December.

On a sequential basis, Turkish industrial production was up 0.9 percent in December. Mining and quarrying index recorded a sequential gain of 2.6 percent, while manufacturing index saw a rise of 1.2 percent. However, the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply saw a drop of 1.1 percent sequentially in December.

Looking at the fourth quarter as a whole, Turkish industrial production rose 7.8 percent year-on-year. As compared with the third quarter, industrial production was up 1.7 percent.
