Tron acquires blockchain.org domain name

On the heels of BitTorrent acquisition, blockchain startup Tron has now announced that it has successfully acquired BlockChain.Org domain name.

According to Tron.Live, Tron founder Justin Sun said “blockchain.org will be a one-stop aggregated data, search engine platform. It will be a platform that offers big data analysis, project evaluation, information search and other services for users in the blockchain field.”

By collecting big amounts of data, Tron would be able to better analyse the needs of the community and the blockchain space, the current and future market condition, and much more. Users, on the other hand, can also utilize these analyzed data to be better informed about a certain project and get the information they need.

Last week, the Tron Foundation announced its tie-up with Seedit, a cryptocurrency payment system based on the Tron network, AMB Crypto reported.

“When using Seedit, transactions are sent through Tron’s ultra-light network and they’re received instantly. With Seedit, you can easily send TRX, or any other Tron token, to anyone around the world using simple commands from various social media platforms like Telegram, Twitter, Reddit, and Kakao, with more platforms planned for the future,” Seedit said.

Tron seeks to build “a truly decentralized Internet and its infrastructure.” According to the transcript of Sun’s speech during a conference call with BitTorrent, Sun said:

“TRON intends to be the largest decentralized Internet ecosystem in the world. With the mission of making the Internet decentralized once again, we are dedicated to making decentralized Internet services available for everyone in the world.

As for our overall strategy, we will first strengthen the existing decentralized Internet infrastructure, and then explore the opportunities for developing the protocol layer and DApp layer.

1. We will develop the TRON Protocol and make sure it grows to be the largest and the most dynamic blockchain protocol in the world.
2. We will develop the BitTorrent Protocol and its applications to guarantee BitTorrent’s dominance in global decentralized content distribution. We will also work to optimize the BitTorrent Protocol with blockchain technology.
3. We will explore and develop other decentralized Internet protocols, in areas such as decentralized storage and cloud computing.
4. We will develop a series of decentralized apps based on decentralized protocols, so that everyone in the world can enjoy decentralized Internet services.

This is a long-term mission which will take 10-20 years to complete.”
