It has been a while since Telltale Games announced it is developing the much-requested sequel to "The Wolf Among Us." But fans will have to be more patient as the studio says updates about the game's development will not be released until 2022.
Many video game companies are already releasing their end-of-the-year statements. Telltale Games has now joined the list, but the studio's parting words for 2021 are more of a reminder to fans that they are still working on a couple of projects, including "The Wolf Among Us 2."
In the same statement shared on Twitter, Telltale emphasized the announcement of "The Wolf Among Us 2" pre-production in December 2019. But even two years later, the studio does not have new information to reveal yet about the sequel.
However, Telltale suggests that it should change in the near future. "Hang in for early next year when we can go deeper into things with ['The Wolf Among Us 2']," the studio said.
For now, it is still unclear what "deeper into things" would entail. But the best fans could hope for is to learn new details about the plot that will unfold in the sequel. If there are gameplay improvements and new features to expect in "The Wolf Among Us 2," next year would also be a good time for Telltale to announce them.
Considering it has been two years since pre-production began, it may also be reasonable to anticipate a release window announcement next year. However, there is no guarantee yet if Telltale will be ready to launch "The Wolf Among Us 2" in 2022. The developer has also not announced yet which gaming platforms the sequel will support.
To video game fans not familiar with the game, the first "The Wolf Among Us" featured five episodes depicting stories based on the "Fables" comic book series. But the episodic graphic game is set in 1986, so it serves as a prequel to the comic books.
Players assume the role of the main protagonist Bigby Wolf, also known as Big Bad Wolf. While "The Wolf Among Us" has a general plot, players' decisions influence certain events in the game.
