Fans can now temporarily stop waiting for “The Winds of Winter” — the book will not arrive this year. Meanwhile, author George R.R. Martin recently opened up about his struggles in finishing the sixth “A Song of Ice and Fire” installment.
For the record, Martin or his publishers are still mum about the “The Winds of Winter” release date. However, there are several speculations that estimate it is likely to be launched in 2019 after Martin confirmed it is not happening this year.
Recently, fans noticed that Martin has been more open about discussing the latest updates on “The Winds of Winter.” In a subreddit thread, fans also took note of WorldCon attendees’ comments that the author looked “much less distressed.” This was taken as a possible sign that Martin is making progress leading them to speculate on a 2019 release date.
Meanwhile, it can also be recalled that highly curious fans took estimating the release date of “The Winds of Winter” to the next level by applying a statistical method called regression analysis. Though technically, its results are still speculative it also predicted a 2019 launch.
Martin is obviously one of the best novelists and sci-fi/fantasy writers of the current generation. But he admitted to still struggle in writing, particularly with “The Winds of Winter.”
“I’ve been struggling with it for a few years,” Martin told the Guardian recently. He then reiterated how complex and intricate the writing that is required for “The Winds of Winter” before adding that it has been “very, very challenging.”
The popularity that the book saga and the TV series have acquired over the years have also added to the difficulties Martin encountered in his ongoing work for “The Winds of Winter.” The author said, “Every time I sit down I’m very conscious I have to do something great and trying to do something great is a considerable weight to bear.” However, on a positive note, Martin assured fans that “The Winds of Winter” is now his priority, especially since “Fire and Blood” is already set to launch this month.
