“The Winds of Winter” is long overdue but even if this is the case, its author, George RR Martin, still chose to release his other books. Just recently, he published “Fire & Blood” which quickly topped the charts of bestselling books in the U.S., U.K., and other countries.
While he achieved great success once again, George RR Martin admitted that he knows that what his fans want is “The Winds of Winter” so he feels sorry. The author is actually upset as everyone else who has been waiting for the sixth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 70-year-old author admitted that he is mad at himself for not completing “The Winds of Winter” earlier. He added that his slow pace is frustrating even to himself.
“I know there are a lot of people out there who are very angry with me that Winds of Winter isn’t finished and I’m mad about that myself,” he said. “I wished I finished it four years ago. I wished it was finished now. But it’s not.”
More recently, George RR Martin also revealed that he has been struggling to complete “The Winds of Winter” but he has been putting more efforts now so he can finish the project. He also shared that he cut out his activities for “TWOW” so fans are hoping that he will finally finish it soon.
In any case, George RR Martin updated his fans once again about “The Winds of Winter.” On Dec. 10, the author thanked his fans and the people who helped him published “Fire & Blood” and while doing so he also took the chance to give an update about his most-awaited book.
Via his Not A Blog page, George RR Martin wrote, "My thanks go out to my fans and readers. I know you want WINDS, and I am going to give it to you.”
He ended his statement with, “It won’t be tomorrow and it won’t be next week, but you will get the end of ‘A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE.’"
Meanwhile, it should be noted that while fans are waiting for “The Winds of Winter,” this is not the last book in the “ASOIAF” series. After “TWOW” George RR Martin still has to release “A Dream of Spring,” the seventh and last book.
