A new visual for the anime version of “The Promised Neverland” was just released and it is oozing with clues as to what the show is about and what viewers can expect. The hints peppered throughout the image are clear enough for even those who have never read the manga to get a feel for what it is about. It is a brilliant depiction of the show’s gruesome nature.
The visual was posted over at Twitter and it looks absolutely amazing. It depicts the three main characters of “The Promised Neverland” on top of a clock face where the hands are actually in the shape of cutlery. This makes the clock face seem like a plate and the three are presented as food. As imagery hints go, this could not be clearer in what it is trying to convey, and it doesn’t stop there.

The fact that the characters are surrounded by darkness shows their ignorance of the outside world, with the lamp providing only a small amount of illumination. Further in the background are also the other children who are also standing on what appear to be clock faces. Of course, they could just as easily be plates, which is only to be expected in “The Promised Neverland.”
On that note, the clock faces also serve to hint at the countdown representing the amount of time that the children have to live. Fans of the manga version of “The Promised Neverland” will already know what this means, but for those who have yet to read the series, the symbolism might take some work. Then again, perhaps enough was already said to make their fates clear for anyone to see.
The anime version of “The Promised Neverland” is scheduled to air on January 2019. This is one show that’s worth looking out for, especially for fans of excellent stories and gore.
