“The Orville” season 2 episode 11 will be focused on the ever-reliable pilot of the USS Orville, Lt. Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes). A preview for the upcoming installment shows Gordon completely swooned by a woman named Laura (Leighton Meester).
The 20-second promo video for “The Orville” season 2 episode 11 opens with Gordon asking Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) and First Officer Commander Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki) if they want to go to a party. Gordon is visibly wary in asking the two to the said party, but Kelly immediately agrees and does not seem to find anything wrong about it until she asks who is hosting the gathering.
At this point, Gordon looks more awkward and cannot look directly to Ed and Kelly as he says, “It’s Laura’s.” Gordon is then met with Kelly and Ed’s puzzled look. The “The Orville” season 2 episode 11 preview then cuts to a scene where Gordon confesses his feelings to the beautiful Laura.
The skilled pilot says he has never met anyone like Laura and the two is then shown sharing a song on stage at a bar. The narrator also describes Gordon’s relationship with Laura in “The Orville” season 2 episode 11 as a “mysterious love.” This could mean that their meeting is not all romance and sweet.
Even Ed seems doubtful about Gordon’s new-found love interest and the latter is asked to “explain” what does this relationship mean. It is possible that Ed is concerned about letting any stranger aboard their ship in “The Orville” season 2 episode 11. CarterMatt offered several possibilities about Laura’s real identity such as she could be a beautiful ruse for someone else to spy on the USS Orville.
Fans also commented on the “The Orville” season 2 episode 11 promo video that it does seem like a coincident that Laura arrives shortly after what Gordon and Ed said about their friendship in episode 10. The two promised that they could never be on each other’s bad side unless it would be about a love interest.
The arrival of Laura already seems suspicious and could even cause a rift in Ed and Gordon’s friendship. “The Orville” season 2 episode 11 will air on Thursday, March 21, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
