Indian IT giant Tech Mahindra has announced its partnership with blockchain startup ChromaWay in its efforts to bring blockchain technology to the Indian market.
Under the exclusive partnership, the companies will work towards developing core ChromaWay technologies into innovative applications for a range of use cases, primarily around land registration and real estate process orchestration. They will build on the startup’s experience in developing blockchain solutions for government agencies in Sweden and Andhra Pradesh.
“Distributed ledger technology is becoming mainstream. Public sector and governments would be amongst the largest beneficiaries, as blockchain technology would help them in streamlining their processes and making them transparent. We have found ChromaWay’s solution quite powerful; something that can definitely help address some of the challenges our public sector has,” said Vivek Agarwal, Global Head Enterprise Verticals Solutions and Portfolio Companies at Tech Mahindra.
According to ChromaWay’s website, the two ongoing projects in Sweden and Andhra Pradesh are the latest applications of the Smart Contracts technology, which is powered by its newest product Postchain.
“Postchain, the world’s first consortium database, unites the best features of database and blockchain technology…offering a new service compatible with existing databases,” the release stated.
Tech Mahindra said that this partnership is aimed at strengthening its initiative to make strategic investments in emerging technologies like blockchain. The key objective is to have the open-source technology platform powering a rich ecosystem of applications both in land registration and beyond, on a global scale.
