“Suits” season 9 is where the story of the law firm led by Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) will officially end. Now, it has fans wondering whether the series finale is enough reason for former “Suits” mainstay Meghan Markle, now formally addressed as the Duchess of Sussex, to briefly return to acting.

Markle’s acting profession can be traced back to early 2000s but it can be said that her major career boost happened when she joined “Suits” in 2011 as Rachel Zane. She was a series regular through the seventh installment but left Hollywood months before marrying Prince Harry in May 2018. Since the USA Network, legal drama holds this much importance to Markle, there have been speculations that she might consider going back, even just for a cameo appearance, in the series finale “Suits” season 9.

Unfortunately for fans, they can now stop hoping for a Rachel Zane comeback as executive producer Aaron Korsh already addressed this “Suits” season 9 speculation. During the Television Critics Association winter press tour the EP told TVLine, “We’re not currently pursuing asking Meghan Markle to leave her position with the royal family and join us. I would love it, but I think it’s pretty close to zero.”

When Markle got engaged to Prince Harry it was made clear that she will be attending to her duties as a member of the British royal family full-time. Another very compelling reason why Markle is unlikely showing up in “Suits” season 9 is the fact that she is currently pregnant with her and Prince Harry’s first child. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly confirmed in January that she is six months pregnant at the time and she is due to give birth sometime between late April and early May.

The season 8 finale just came out on Wednesday. The cast and crew will probably go back on set very soon if they want to maintain a summertime premiere for “Suits” season 9. The show has had a June or July release date since 2011 so it will most likely become the same schedule this year for the final installment.
