SYDNEY, Sept. 15, 2017 -- SolarWinds, the worldwide leader in network management software, today announced SolarWinds® Network Insight™ for Cisco® Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA). SolarWinds Network Insight for Cisco ASA provides comprehensive monitoring —well beyond hardware health and performance—and the ability to manage access control lists (ACLs). Having the ability to see into the performance of next-generation firewalls is essential to successfully managing a hybrid IT environment. SolarWinds Network Insight for Cisco ASA is available in the latest versions of SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor and SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager, both part of the SolarWinds Orion® Platform.
“Devices like Cisco’s Adaptive Security Appliance have complex states that cannot be understood simply by looking at tables of statistics,” said Christoph Pfister, executive vice president of products, SolarWinds. “Leveraging SolarWinds’ deep knowledge of networking for hybrid IT environments, we’ve created Network Insight for Cisco ASA to visualise the critical functions of this device and make it easier to resolve problems and mitigate threats quickly. Network Insight for Cisco ASA empowers IT pros to deliver secure and reliable connectivity for their business.”
“Our ability to troubleshoot IPsec using the new ASA features in NPM 12.2 has given us visibility into metrics for both remote and site-to-site VPN metrics, which have traditionally only been monitored through three or four disparate tools that were difficult to manage, or lacked historical data collection and correlation,” said Nick Zourdos, network administrator and NPM 12.2 beta user. “Not only has this already shown us how we can directly impact the delivery of key business services, but NPM 12.2 has given the team a whole new monitoring experience and appreciation for that aspect of the job.”
SolarWinds Network Insight for Cisco ASA
In modern hybrid IT environments, firewalls provide critical connectivity to cloud-based assets. Standard monitoring tools do not provide the needed visibility into key firewall metrics such as VPN tunnel connectivity and failover status and availability. SolarWinds Network Insight for Cisco ASA goes beyond basic up/down and provides network administrators with:
- Visibility into, and reporting and alerting for:
- VPN tunnel visibility (LAN-to-LAN)
- High availability and failover status
- Hardware status
- Interface monitoring with critical configuration data such as security level
- Connection count
- ACL Monitoring:
- Filter, search, and view ACLs with the firewall rule browser
- Show relationships with ACLs, context, and objects
- Snapshot, version, compare, and backup ACL configs
- Analyse ACL configs and highlight shadowed, redundant, and unused rules
In addition to SolarWinds Network Insight for Cisco ASA, SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor and Network Configuration Manager also include support for F5® BIG-IP® environments with SolarWinds Network Insight for F5 BIG-IP. Support for additional appliances is expected in future releases.
Also New in SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor
- PerfStack™ improvements, including real-time polling for key metrics and support for additional metrics such as Syslog, UnDP, SNMP traps, and more
- Support for high availability (HA) multi-subnet deployments and disaster recovery
