Samsung SDI launched its new battery brand called "PRiMX," and this was announced on Wednesday, Dec. 29. The battery and electronic materials maker headquartered in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, said the new label exactly imparts the company's brand identity.
Through the introduction of PRiMX, Samsung SDI is also promoting a super-gap technology strategy. The company's new battery label is an abbreviation for "Prime Battery for Maximum Experience" and it was formed under three fundamental phrases, which are "Absolute Quality," "Outstanding Performance," and "Proven Advantage."
The first phrase apparently states that PRiMX batteries' quality is superb and safe too. The company enhanced its quality control of the entire process of making the batteries starting from development to production and finally, to shipping.
The Korea Times mentioned that Samsung SDI carries out strict quality inspections, selection of materials and designing the batteries to up the quality while still at the development phase. They can also immediately detect any defects before the battery goes through the rest of the production process.
The "Outstanding Performance" speaks of the high-capacity and high-power battery products that were made using Samsung SDI's newest materials and technology, such as silicon anodes and high-nickel cathodes. For the third phrase, which is "Proven Advantage," refers to some of the unmatched battery features, including super fast charging ability.
"PRiMX is a battery brand that conveys Samsung SDI's unique identity," Samsung SDI executive vice president of the strategic marketing team, Michael Son, said in a press release. "We will develop the brand to reach the pinnacle of technology."
The PRiMX trademark has been registered in South Korea and Europe. The registration is already complete, and soon, Samsung SDI will also be submitting an application for a trademark of the brand in the United States. The company will use the brand for all the high quality batteries that it will produce from now on.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the name PRiMX has been picked after Samsung SDI launched an in-house contest for its employees. The company set up a microsite and uploaded a video to introduce its new brand of batteries and to better explain to people what it is.
