Instagram will be able to display HDR photos shot with Samsung's new Galaxy S24 smartphones, the two firms revealed.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Is First To Be Capable Of Uploading HDR Photographs To Instagram
Instagram and Snapchat will also be able to take images with camera features such as Nightography, Super HDR, and Video Stabilization from within their apps. The app already supports HDR video, according to The Verge.
“Every photo and video you take, or view, will be shown in its full range of color and contrast, from the moment you snap the content, to the moment you post. In fact, the Galaxy S24 series will be the first ever to have HDR enabled for photos on Instagram,” Samsung’s VP of Intelligent Imaging, Dr. Hamid Sheikh, onstage at the S24 launch event, stated.
Samsung introduced a slew of social media photography-focused features for its new Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra phones, including HDR support. The smartphone manufacturer also stated that Instagram and rival Snapchat would be able to use Samsung's native camera functionality when snapping photographs directly from their applications.
According to Engadget, video stabilization must be activated in the native camera app before it can be used with Instagram and Snapchat, but otherwise, Instagram and Snapchat should provide a much more authentic-feeling shooting experience for S24 device owners.
While the Galaxy S24 will include more of Samsung's camera features via Instagram and Snapchat's third-party cameras, Engadget notes that you'll still want to use the phone's first-party apps to take advantage of their AI-focused editing features, which can add background blur, remove reflections, and even move subjects around a frame.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Pioneering the AI-Powered Mobile Experience with Subtle Yet Significant Design Enhancements
Speaking of Samsung Galaxy S24, Samsung boldly declares the end of smartphone camera wars as it transitions into the AI age. And the $1,300 S24 Ultra is the torchbearer for this new era of mobile design.
While it may not appear that much has changed on the S24 Ultra, there is one major design upgrade and a few minor improvements. The transition to a titanium frame (available in four colors: titanium yellow, violet, gray, and black) mirrors what Apple did with the iPhone 15 Pro last year.
The main difference is that, unlike the heavier stainless steel design on the iPhone 14 Pro, Samsung's previous flagship had an aluminum chassis, thus the S24 Ultra's weight (8.22 ounces) is nearly constant from last year's handset (8.25 ounces). That means, aside from some minor textural changes, there isn't much visible evidence of the S24's greater durability, which includes the same IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
