Ten years after the first-ever “Twilight” movie premiered, some avid fans are still holding a festival for the popular vampire movie series. And it is also a chance for them to remember that leading stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were once in love with one another for real.
The said festival, called Forever Twilight in Forks, happens in Forks, Washington — a real place where the fictional characters of Bella and Edward met and fell in love. This year, the festival took place last on Sept. 13 to 16. Meanwhile, it is also important to note that November 2018 marks the actual 10th anniversary of the movie series that made Pattinson and Stewart some of the most followed movie stars worldwide.
Pattinson and Stewart first met at an audition for the movie series around 2007. Several people attached in the production, such as director Catherine Hardwicke, stood witness to the “love at first sight” magic between the two.
However, Pattinson and Stewart would not become a couple until 2010, obviously because the actress was dating Michael Angarano at the beginning of the “Twilight” production. But during the said 2007 audition where the actors needed to do a kissing scene at their first meeting, Hardwicke was certain of a chemistry that would win the hearts of many.
In earlier interviews, Hardwicke also revealed that it was practically Stewart who convinced her that Pattinson was the right fit for the role. After doing the same scene with three other auditionees, Stewart reportedly told the director (via MTV), “After we finished the whole thing and we had met bachelors one, two, three and four, Kristen said, 'It has to be Rob.'”
Fandom also recalled statements from Summit Entertainment executive Nancy Kirkpatrick detailing how real Pattinson and Stewart’s love for each other was. “They were a real couple, it wasn’t manufactured in Hollywood. I wish I was that good,” Kirkpatrick said.
Unfortunately, Pattinson and Stewart’s relationship ended on a bad note in 2012. Photos of Stewart and “Snow White and the Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders were published confirming their affair. Stewart was still with Pattinson while Sanders was married at the time.
