With all the recent fan excitement surrounding Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse's London date, people have become much more concerned about the former “Twilight” star's dating history. Pattinson's recent long period of singleness since he ended his engagement with FKA Twigs may be the culprit to all the speculations and dirt digging from across all the corners of the internet.
The recent surge in interest has unearthed old rumors such as a potential fling between Robert Pattinson and “Roar” singer, Katy Perry. Gossip Cop has debunked the allegation by pointing out that the rumor only started when TMZ speculated on a potential relationship between the two stars when they were spotted together at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles.
This moment coincided late in 2017, with Katy Perry's own breakup with Orlando Bloom just fresh for less than half a year. During this period, there was also no news of Katy Perry dating anyone else. This period of relationship drought for Perry, and the rocky road that Pattinson's engagement had gone through, may be the catalyzing factor for the public to try to connect the two stars together.
The primary debunking matter is the consistency of public displays of affection which both Pattinson and Perry are known to engage in with whomever they are in a current relationship with. This pattern is not present to back up any serious claims that Pattinson or Perry had dated or had been in a low-key relationship.
While Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart never got back together since their 2012 breakup, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom found a different path, with Perry re-confirming her relationship with “The Calcium Kid” just last spring.
With the Perry-Bloom reunion and Pattinson's newfound ease with Suki Waterhouse, fans may be expecting that such rumors about any kind of tension between Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry will die down. Only time will tell if such rumors will remain dead and buried.
