Peacock vs. others: Which streaming service should you be using?

Ok, I was seated in my backyard thinking about this article, and then I got a bit nostalgic.

Who remembers the time our favorite shows were only available on DVD players and video players? No disrespect to that age, but how did we survive that?

Personally, I hated that I had to stand in queues whenever I wanted to get a CD. That was legit exhausting.

Anyways, thank God streaming services came around.

Today, we’re going to be talking about Peacock and how it compares to the Netflixs and Hulus of this world. Of course, every streaming service caters to amazing movies, sports, cartoons, and documentaries. But some do it better than others.

Peacock and the rest of the streaming community

Peacock is a streaming platform owned by NBC Universal streaming service with three subscription plans: free, premium, and premium plus. The platform provides a variety of shows, movies, original series, and live sports and news. It is a subsidiary of Comcast and was aired in July 2020.

The free plan is free to use. But it comes with in-watch commercials, so you may need to upgrade to the premium plan, which costs $4.99/month. The Premium Plus costs $9.99/month.

The good news with Peacock paid plans is there are plenty of opportunities to shave a decent percent off your annual subscription. For example, when you sign up for the Peacock Annual Membership, your annual rate becomes $49.99/year, a 17% savings compared to the monthly plan. Besides this, there are Peacock promo codes that let you shave up to 17%, 24%, and 20% off your monthly payments. Indeed, Peacock is one of the most flexible streaming services out there in terms of pricing.

Why should you pick Peacock?

Peacock vs. Netflix:

Netflix is a streaming service that was founded on August 29, 1997.

The company has a larger catalog of movies than Peacock, although recently, it has lost some of its licensed materials. This is due to distributors' increased interest in developing their platforms. Some of Netflix's shows are now being moved on to Peacock. For instance, one of Netflix's most successful shows, The Office, began filming on Peacock on January 1, 2021.

Netflix comes in a 3-way plan which is Basic, standard, and premium. The basic plan alone costs $8.99 monthly. Can you imagine that? And that’s not even the staggering part. On Netflix Basic, you are restricted in the number of screens that can view shows at once. There’s also reduced quality on the basic plan.

In contrast, Peacock’s equivalent of the Netflix Basic is the ‘Free Plan.’ And even this plan offers new users access to some of Peacock’s movie catalogs. Once you upgrade to the Premium Plus plan, you get access to Peacock’s entire library and zero ads.

On Peacock, discounts and promotions are more frequently available than on Netflix. Also, Peacock products are significantly easier to use than Netflix. And the customer service is better than that of Netflix.

Peacock vs. Hulu:

Hulu is another streaming service launched on October 27, 2007. Hulu has a library of films and television shows from networks like ABC, NBC, and FX, as well as Hulu's original programming.

Hulu does not have a free tier. Hulu Basic costs $5.99 per month with ads, while Hulu Premium costs $11.99 per month without ads. However, there is no difference in the content you receive.

Then there's Hulu with Live TV. This includes over 65 live channels from local networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox) and top cable networks like ESPN, Bravo, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Fox News, HGTV, Syfy, and TLC.

Peacock has a bigger edge over Hulu’s subscription plan as you can watch for free or pay for Premium Plus plans of $9.99 monthly to watch the full library.

Also, in terms of lifestyle and sports shows, Peacock beats Hulu hands down as you get live news channels from NBC News Now and Sky News. You also get daily highlights from TODAY, NBC Nightly News, Meet the Press, Telemundo Noticias, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC Sports, E! News, and Access Hollywood.

For soccer lovers, Peacock Premium allows you to watch 175 exclusive live premier league matches. For lovers of Tennis, the plan also allows subscribers to watch the U.S open championship.

Peacock vs. Amazon prime:

Amazon Prime Video, also known as Prime Video, is a subscription video-on-demand streaming and rental service. Prime Video is available as a standalone service or as part of Amazon's Prime membership.

It primarily distributes Amazon Originals, which are television shows and movies produced by Amazon Studios or licensed to Amazon. Amazon Prime is $12.99 monthly or $119 per year, plus taxes. It offers student discounts through a Prime Student membership, which costs $6.49 per month. Peacock provides two paid plans as well as a free ad-supported plan.

Users with a Peacock account can stream on three devices simultaneously. Also, Premium Plus subscribers can download certain content for offline viewing. On the other hand, Amazon only allows for up to three concurrent streams. You can, however, only stream the same title on two devices at the same time.

Peacock vs. Disney plus:

Disney Plus is another streaming platform that is controlled by The Walt Disney Company's Media and Entertainment Distribution division. The service primarily distributes films and television series produced by The Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Television, with content hubs dedicated to brands of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, etc.

Disney+ also offers original films and television series. Each account can have up to seven user profiles. Furthermore, they provide the ability to stream on four devices simultaneously, as well as unlimited downloads for offline viewing.

Peacock TV includes standard playback and volume controls, 10-second rewind and fast-forwards buttons, an episode selector, a subtitle toggle, and an info button for viewing a brief description of the programming. Disney plus just has a playback screen with 10-second fast-forward and rewind buttons and in-built caption settings.

Peacock vs. HBO Max:

HBO Max is a streaming platform that was owned by Warner Bros. The streaming service is primarily a content hub for Warner Media's various movies and television properties. It provides a selection of original programming and library content derived through third-party licensing.

HBO Max does not have a free tier. It is also significantly more expensive than all of Peacock's plans, at $14.99 per month.

On top of its popular shows and big-name movies, Peacock offers live sports, talk shows, and news content. You get more live sports channels compared to HBO max.

Last words

Peacock trumps some of the popular names in the streaming industry by its amazing price plans and outstanding content catalog.

If you're on the fence about the service to subscribe to, we advise you to choose Peacock. As you’ve seen, there’s so much to gain here.
