The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One port was one of the most highly anticipated events for the console, which was fueled by Microsoft adding fuel to the flame. As such, despite its rocky launch, PUBG on the console has reached one million players in just 48 hours. It seems Microsoft is also fully committed to making the 100-player title one of its main sales drivers a PUBG Xbox One X offer.
The one million figure came from PUBG creator Brendan Greene himself, who Tweeted his thanks to the players who supported the game on Xbox One. The developer also acknowledged the technical issues that players and critics have brought up with regards to the game’s console version, which are problematic, to say the least.
Over 1M players tried @PUBATTLEGROUNDS within 48hrs of launch on @Xbox Game Preview! This is humbling, so thank you all!

It’s the start of the road on console for us. We‘ve lots to improve & update over the coming months & w/ your feedback we’ll make a great game together!
“Over 1M players tried @PUBATTLEGROUNDS within 48hrs of launch on @Xbox Game Preview! This is humbling, so thank you all!” the Tweet reads. “It’s the start of the road on console for us. We‘ve lots to improve & update over the coming months & w/ your feedback we’ll make a great game together!”
As Gamespot notes, however, Greene’s choice of words is interesting since “tried” is not exactly applicable to PUBG. Even though it’s still technically in Early Access on Steam and now Game Preview on Xbox, there’s no free trial version of the game. As such, players needed to pay to play what essentially amounts to a beta title, which is riddled with bugs of all kinds.
Having pointed that out, there is technically a way to obtain PUBG for free but it involves buying the Xbox One X. Starting December 17th until the 31st, gamers who buy the upgraded console will get the game for free, Tech Times reports. Unfortunately, the offer is limited to only select areas, so customers will definitely want to ask their local retailers first if they can avail of the deal.
