“Outlander” Season 4 Episode 8 will be setting up one of the most harrowing events that this installment has for its fan base. While the promo provided a lot of thrilling scenes for the upcoming release, one particular sequence got book-readers fearing for Brianna (Sophie Skelton).

The reason for this apprehension is due to the events that took place in the books. In the shows source material, Brianna was sexually assaulted by the dreaded pirate Stephen Bonnet. And since Bonnet was seen with Brianna in the trailer of “Outlander” Season 4 Episode 8, it won’t be too long before this distressing scene arrives.

While other fans have been hoping that the assault would be opt out of the series, it seems that showrunner Ronald D. Moore will indeed be portraying it. "We have a history of it with the show itself, [so the question becomes] how much of this material is in the show when do we do it, when do we decide not to do it and why are we making that choice,” Moore elaborated. But this heart-wrenching scene is not expected to occur in “Outlander” Season 4 Episode 8.

Instead, the showrunners are still building up the tension leading towards the sexual assault. Right now, “Outlander” Season 4 Episode 8 will have Brianna reunite with Roger (Richard Rankin) in the 18th century. At first, she was relieved seeing Roger but eventually became upset as it wasn’t her plan to drag him along this arduous journey. But given that Roger has already passed through the stones, Brianna has no choice but to have him tag along in “Outlander” Season 4 Episode 8.

Meanwhile, Jamie (Sam Heughan) is racing against time to warn Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) of the impending danger he’s in. The governor revealed to Jamie that he has identified Murtagh as the leader of the insurgents and is setting up a trap for the man. As such, Jamie will ask Claire (Caitriona Balfe) to stall for time while he tries to pull Murtagh out a precocious situation. “Outlander” Season 4 Episode 8 certainly has a lot going on for it and it’s for this reason that fans are eagerly waiting for its release on Dec. 23.
