OnePlus 7 is the expected name for the next flagship smartphone of the Chinese tech company OnePlus. The device is naturally expected to sport several improvements despite the lack of an official announcement.
Various reports state that the OnePlus 7 is likely going to be one of the first smartphones enabled to support the 5G cellular connectivity. Again, OnePlus is yet to verify this information, but it is important to note that there was significant progress in making the 5G network available this year.
Several regions around the world such as the United States, South Korea, Middle East, and Europe saw 5G network launched in 2018 on a consumer level while much more countries are expected to follow within 2019 to 2020. China’s state-owned telco, China Mobile, also confirmed earlier this year they are targeting to offer more 5G-enabled devices within the first half of 2019. So getting ahead by offering a 5G-enabled device such as the OnePlus 7 could be a smart business move for OnePlus.
Meanwhile, judging from OnePlus’ annual schedule of launching its flagship devices, there are likely a few more months before the OnePlus 7 is officially announced. This explains why details about the smartphone’s specs and design are still scarce.
However, there was a leaked photo circulating since last week suggesting that the OnePlus 7 could sport a modular design. The picture, shared by known leaker Ishan Agarwal, was taken during an apparent OnePlus executive meeting but he noted, “This image shows the device in prototype/designing stage and it is not final but this is probably how the device may end up looking.”
EXCLUSIVE! Here's your first look at an upcoming OnePlus Device I don't know much about. Unfortunately, not much can be made out of the supposed OnePlus 7 leaked photo. Aside from the seemingly modular design, the number of rear-facing cameras or the display bezels cannot be seen in the image.
OnePlus 3 and 5 were announced in June while OnePlus 6 was unveiled a little bit earlier in May. This means the OnePlus 7 could be introduced sometime in May or June 2019.
