Although the OnePlus 12 was already slated to launch in the United States in 2024, little was known about its cheaper sister – until today. The business has announced plans to launch the OnePlus 12R globally, including in the United States.
OnePlus has produced an R-branded variation of its flagship phone in China every year since the OnePlus 9 in 2021, but the more affordable model has not been officially available in Canada, Europe, or the United States prior to this iteration. A Chinese telecom firm has already revealed some of the OnePlus 12R's first precise specifications.
OnePlus 12R Leak Reveals All Specs and Features
The OnePlus 12R, which is expected to enter the worldwide market, was shown off in all its glory under its Chinese moniker, OnePlus Ace 3, in what looks to be an early listing on the China Telecom website. When it is released, the 12R will sport a 6.8-inch display with a 1.5K resolution of 2480x1264 pixels, as per MySmartPrice. The refresh rate was not specified on the China Telecom website, but it is expected to be 120Hz.
The gadget will, as expected, include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU and two RAM options: 12GB and 16GB. The OnePlus 12R is powered by a 5500mAh battery with rapid charging capability (100W).
The exact pricing (in USD) has not been determined, however the OnePlus Ace 3 could go on sale in China as soon as January 31, 2024. The OnePlus 12R variant that will be released in the global market is likely to be announced on January 23.
Anticipating the OnePlus Ace 3V with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
Depending on your budget and region, you may want to hold off and see what else OnePlus has in the works. The business is reported to be working on a OnePlus Ace 3V variant with a similar display resolution to the OnePlus Ace 3. However, it is expected that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 CPU would be used in the phone instead.
If the gadget is released outside of China, OnePlus will most likely market it under a different brand. For example, the previously released OnePlus 2V in China was eventually offered globally as the OnePlus Nord 3.
While OnePlus has not verified many details about the OnePlus 12R's specifications, there have been numerous leaks indicating what to expect. Despite all of the reports, one thing appears to be certain: the gadget will be reasonably priced in comparison to many of the flagship phones available in the United States. Even if you don't buy a phone in 2024, the influence of OnePlus' low-cost choice will most certainly be felt for months to come.
