Lionsgate has yet to provide added information about “Now You See Me” 3 leading a lot of fans to ask when the film will be released. The only confirmation that the company offered is that they have begun developing the third entry back in 2015, Variety reported.
However, rumors are flying around that “Now You See Me” 3 could potentially drop in the last quarter of 2019. Since the first and second movie had three years gap between their release date, some are assuming that Lionsgate could treat the third film the same way.
The problem is that filming of “Now You See Me” 3 has yet to begin. So far, the only information about this front is coming from IMDb, which states that the film will start shooting on April 16. That gives the cast and crew eight months to wrap-up production and edit everything down.
As such, it’s unlikely that “Now You See Me” 3 will see a 2019 release date given the time constraint mentioned above. Another rumor floating around is the inclusion of “Doctor Strange” actor Benedict Cumberbatch into the series’ ensemble.
The “Sherlock Holmes” star is speculated to act as the main antagonist in “Now You See Me” 3. And given that the first two films had British villains, the rumor does have precedence. Of course, since nothing has been confirmed just yet, it’s best to take this news with a grain of salt.
As for who will be returning, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan, and Mark Ruffalo will likely be reprising their roles. Once again, it’s expected that Isla Fisher will not be included in “Now You See Me” 3 since she has long let go of her role as one of the Four Horseman.
It can be recalled that Fisher’s reason for leaving the franchise is due to her being pregnant. There was also an incident that happened on set that nearly took her life when one of the stunts went awry at some point during filming. Hopefully, “Now You See Me” 3 will have no such occurrence when production begins next month.
