Los Angeles, CA, March 28, 2018 -- NorthStar Moving® Company, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, partnered with Move for Hunger to ensure food and water at the 2018 Los Angeles Marathon was not wasted. NorthStar Moving gathered 7,502 pounds of leftover food from the marathon and delivered them to a local food bank to help feed hungry neighbors in the greater Los Angeles community.
"The team at NorthStar Moving continues to amaze us," said Adam Lowy, Executive Director of Move For Hunger. "Their dedication to helping people in the communities they serve is inspiring. We are grateful for their continued support of our mission to reduce food waste and fight hunger."
On March 18th the 2018 Los Angeles Marathon gathered over 24,000 runners from all 50 states and more than 63 countries. “The Los Angeles Marathon not only brings together athletes from all over the world, it also brings together our local community,” said NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Laura McHolm. “For a second year, it gives us great pleasure to be involved, rescuing unused bananas, bagels, protein bars, snacks, drinks and water from the LA Marathon, delivering them to the Valley Food Bank. The healthy snacks and beverages will be put to good use, serving those in need. We are honored to be a part of the effort to reduce waste at the LA Marathon and continue the race to end hunger.”
