“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 is a follow-up to the highly successful first run that was supposed to be the show’s fourth season. Rather than offering the fourth installment, the producers decided that it would be better to reset the show since they will move to a new location. This change led to the rebranding of the crime drama thus this is only the second chapter.
“Narcos: Mexico” season 1’s finale showed a sad, brutal ending and there was a narrator throughout. It was said that in “Narcos: Mexico” season 2, this character whose face has not been shown yet will finally be revealed and he will play a major role in the drama.
In the ending, he was only referred to as “Walt” and he said that he will make sure to intensified the fight for the illegal drug trade so that the DEA could avenge the death of their colleague – Kiki Camarena played by Michael Pena. Now, the identity of this narrator will be fully exposed in “Narcos: Mexico” season 2.
For now, the only detail regarding Walt Breslin is that he is also a DEA agent. He will replace Kiki Camarena and will go after Diego Luna. Scott McNairy was tapped to play this role and in his previous interview with Collider, the actor shared some spoilers about “Narcos: Mexico” season 2.
McNairy said that they already knew that the narrator will eventually come to “Narcos: Mexico” season 2. He said that he heard from showrunner Eric Newman
that since Walt is appearing in the second installment, they need to subtly introduce him before season 1 ends so it was how they ended the show.
“If he’s coming on, why don’t we see if we can plug him into one episode, at the very end, and we’ll see if we can have him narrate because it would make sense,” McNairy quoted the showrunner as saying to him.
Lastly, as the actor talks about the series, he eventually mentioned some spoilers they will follow Diego Luna who will have a hard time this time after they were busted in the first season. He added that “Narcos: Mexico” season 2 will definitely pick up from the time after Kiki Camarena was murdered.
