The long-running police procedural series has just celebrated its 400th episode with a huge story that brought back fans to how Gibbs (Mark Harmon) was introduced to the institution. However, TV fans will have to wait a little longer before they can watch “NCIS” season 18, episode 3.
‘NCIS’ season 18 episode 3 release date delayed
The series, like other shows in the United States, is getting the usual Thanksgiving break. Instead of having “NCIS” season 18 episode 3 released this week, fans will have to wait until Tuesday, Dec. 8. The episode, titled “Blood and Treasure,” will go on air at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
‘NCIS’ season 18 episode 3 spoilers, preview
For now, fans can go through some of the “NCIS” season 18 episode 3 teasers and find that one of the beloved recurring guest characters is coming back. The official synopsis for “Blood and Treasure” mentions Fornell (Joe Spano) will return for this episode to work on a case with Gibbs.
It can be recalled that “NCIS” season 18’s premiere picked up from a building up storyline centered on the struggle of Emily (Juliette Angelo), Fornell’s daughter, with opioid addiction. The upcoming episode will show Gibbs and Fornell continuing their investigation and “get deeper” in their search for the mastermind behind the wide network of counterfeit opioid trafficking. A preview image shared by CarterMatt also suggests their duo’s investigation might require Fornell to go on an undercover as a Beltway Burger service crew.
As for the rest of the squad, McGee (Sean Murry), Bishop (Emily Wickersham), and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) will hold the fort and handle a new, official case in “NCIS” season 18 episode 3. Their investigation starts after finding two corpses in a forest that would later lead to modern-day treasure hunting. In the official video preview, Bishop appears to be working on a puzzle, which is a nod to her days as an analyst for the NSA.
‘NCIS’ 400th episode paid tribute to Gibbs and Ducky’s friendship
Gibbs and Fornell’s investigation went on a small break as the series marked the airing of its 400th episode before the Thanksgiving break. The episode, titled “Everything Starts Somewhere,” was filled with flashbacks, including the first time Gibbs and Ducky (David McCallum) met.
