New Year will not be a happy one for the team of SSA Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). McGee (Sean Murray) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) are going to be arrested right at the very first episode in 2019 in “NCIS” season 16 episode 11.
“NCIS” season 16 episode 11 is fittingly titled “Toil and Trouble” where Gibbs and his team will be entangled with a murder investigation. While murder cases are practically what they work on all the time, it is very likely that the investigation could uncover a much bigger network of conspiracy. It is one of the plausible reasons why the Secretary of Defense would be so worked up that Gibbs and the crew are — a team that would not compromise merely for politics — is looking into it.
The United States Secretary of Defense, Wynn Crawford (Mitch Pileggi), will tells Gibbs to stop the investigation. But McGee and Torres will be taking the worst hit as Crawford orders for their arrest in “NCIS” season 16 episode 11. The command is above Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) or the Secretary of Navy’s pay grade so seeing McGee and Torres in jail is a possibility.
Reports also pointed out that this “getting in trouble with the bureaucracy” storyline has already been introduced in “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “NCIS: New Orleans.” In “NCIS” season 10, Gibbs was particularly targeted by an internal investigation that led McGee and former cast Tony (Michael Weatherly) to resign. But the ordeal in “NCIS” season 16 episode 11 is an entirely new ploy as the entire team, possibly even the entire agency, will be subjected to scrutiny by the boss of their bosses.
As mentioned, “NCIS” season 16 episode 11 is going to be the first fresh installment in 2019. With a storyline this big, its effects will certainly echo through the following episodes in the coming months. It is also interesting what’s the play of the sketchy CIA Agent Westley Clark (Scott Williams Winters), whose appearance is confirmed, in this storyline. “Toil and Trouble” will air on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 on CBS.
