A lot seems to be happening at Mozilla. Today, the company rolled out Firefox for iOS. It is now available on the iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch and can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store, Venture Beat reported.
The web browser maker says that while this is “the first ever release of Firefox for iOS,” users can expect to see “much more from us soon as we are going full speed ahead on continuously delivering new features.”
Also, Mozilla on Tuesday introduced an experimental build of Firefox OS – Firefox OS 2.5 Developer Preview – that will enable using Firefox OS on Android device. The Preview build makes Firefox OS available to more developers, testers, localizers, and supporters of the Open Web across the world.
“Firefox OS 2.5 Developer Preview is an app that lets you experience Firefox OS as an alternate home screen on your Android device without having to re-flash and replace your Android installation”, said Peter Dolanjski, Product Manager for Firefox OS.
One interesting new feature that comes with the latest version is ‘Private Browsing With Tracking Protection’. It is a new Firefox privacy features that will enable users to control how their browsing activity is tracked.
Moreover, ‘Pin the Web’ will let users pin any web site or web page to their home screen for later usage. There is also Firefox OS add-ons that can extend “just one app, several or all of them, including the system app itself.”
“If you’re curious to see what Firefox OS is all about, or just interested in testing out new features, the Firefox OS 2.5 Developer Preview app makes it very simple to get started with very little risk involved”, Dolanjski added.
