Fans of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are still waiting when the couple will finally tie the knot given that they’ve been together for eight years. Even when the couple briefly separating and dating other people during that timeline, it still doesn’t stop people from hoping that they would finally walk down the aisle.
However, it appears that fans of the couple will have to wait longer for this milestone to occur if Miley Cyrus’ previous statements are anything to go by. "I'm just riding this out. I don’t envision marriage. I’m 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do,” Cyrus told The Sun (via WMagazine). Meanwhile, Liam Hemsworth seems to be content with his girlfriend’s perspective and also appears to be in no hurry to wed as well.
This decision shows a great level of maturity, especially since Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s professional career is revolving around the entertainment industry. Everyone knows that this ecosystem is filled with a lot of stories regarding couples who ended up divorce even though they’ve been married for years.
However, being married for a long time isn’t an indication that this arrangement will last, Psychology Today reported. According to author Theresa E DiDonato Ph.D., the possibility of a marriage ending in divorce significantly decreases if both individuals have formed a strong bond with each other. Dating for two years supposedly lower this chance by 20 percent, while dating above five years decreases it by 50 percent. And since Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have been dating for nearly a decade, it seems that they’ll be enjoying a lifelong of marriage.
Of course, this isn’t a certainty and there are a lot of factors that contribute to the collapse of a relationship. There’s also the fact that Hollywood couples like Miley Cyrus and Chris Hemsworth are always scrutinized by the public, especially in this day and age where social media is ubiquitous.
Add the fact that gossip column always publishes unfounded stories about couples going through fights and a marriage between two celebrities become even more complicated. One such story is the claim made by OK! magazine (via Gossip Cop) saying that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are actually married.
The tabloid published an article last year saying that the couple made a spur-of-the-moment decision to get married in Tybee Island. Of course, that narrative has been proven to be false and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are still unwed until now. Although their fans have been dreaming for the two to tie the knot, what they truly want is for the couple to simply be happy and remain the adorable pair that they are now.
