Mark Harmon has been working on the set of “NCIS” for more than a decade now and he is considered as the pillar of the show. Not only because he is the procedural drama’s lead star but the actor is one of the reasons for its longevity.
Now, despite being the “NCIS” lead character, there were rumors that Mark Harmon is set to leave the show. Based on the reports, the 67-year-old actor will only be in the drama until season 16 then he will exit and give up his Leroy Jethro Gibbs role.
As Celebrity Insider pointed out, this is not the first time that Mark Harmon was reported to leave “NCIS.” In the past, this kind of rumor also hounded the veteran actor but they were proven false when he still continue to appear and reprise his role in the drama.
Various publications previously published articles that Mark Harmon is leaving due to his failing health. They alleged that the actor cannot return to filming anymore as his health condition has greatly declined. It was added that since “NCIS” requires him to do many action scenes, it would be impossible for him to them this time.
However, the reports were proven to be fake news once again when Mark Harmon signed a new deal with CBS so he can continue working for “NCIS” as Leroy Gibbs. With him still in the show, the drama is still going strong and able to maintain its high ratings in the programming race.
Fans also said before that “NCIS” would not be “NCIS” without Gibbs (Mark Harmon) so his continuous appearance is definitely helpful and played a big part in keeping the show alive and fighting until now. With this said, there is no way that the actor is leaving anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Mark Harmon has been listed as one of the highest paid TV actors in 2018. As per Forbes, he is the fifth in the list for earning around $19 million for his on “NCIS.”
