“Lucifer” season 5 release date is yet to arrive but there’s an even more exciting possibility waiting for fans. While the fifth season was previously rumored to be the show’s last, it now appears that a sixth season might still be possible with the latest deal between Netflix and its showrunners.
‘Lucifer’ season 6 update
Recent reports suggest that “Lucifer” season 6 might still be possible. According to TV Line, a sixth season for the hit series is likely to happen with the recently inked deal between its showrunners and the network. “Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have closed new deals to remain at the helm of the death-defying drama for a potential Season 6,” the report claimed.
However, there is one potential obstacle that might keep “Lucifer” season 6 from happening. “Leading man Tom Ellis does not yet have a deal to return,” the publication added. But it appears that they are likely expecting for Ellis to be back as the report also said that “all sides are expecting a positive outcome.”
The report added that Netflix is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to extend the show beyond the supposed fifth and final season. This means that if theirs talks eventually result in a deal, a “Lucifer” season 6 will definitely be happening.
‘Lucifer’ season 5 speculations
Meanwhile, fans are busy making their own speculations while waiting for “Lucifer season 5 to arrive on Netflix. One such speculation is that Lucifer's mom might come back in the upcoming season.
Goddess was last seen in the third season when Lucifer used the flaming sword to banish his mother into the void. He then tossed the sword into the void before it closed.
“Technically, it’s entirely possible that Goddess returns,” Redditor h2p012 wrote, Express reported. “We know it took the Flaming Sword to open up the way to a new universe, and Lucifer tossed the sword into the void before it closed, so she has it.”
There’s just one problem though. The Flaming Sword can only be wielded by Lucifer himself. But fans got around that slight inconvenience as well.
“Yes, Lucifer was the only one who could use it, but when Goddess regains at full strength, she could theoretically change that requirement with the sword,” the fan added. “Never once was it mentioned that it required the power of both God and Goddess to create/change the sword. Hell, God could just create a new one on his own too.”
“Lucifer” season 5 will arrive on Netflix in 2020. Stay tuned for updates.
