Square Enix announced it is hosting an online event to discuss updates on some of its popular games. However, one of the biggest announcements for the upcoming presentation is the launch of the much-awaited “Life Is Strange 3.”
‘Life Is Strange 3’ announcement is set on March 18
Considering there was a three-year gap between the first two “Life Is Strange” games, fans of the series have been expecting the next main series installment to be launched this year. It is now very likely coming true as Square Enix confirmed the first look at “Life Is Strange 3” is one of the updates it is going to present in next week’s event.
The graphic episodic series, developed by Dontnod Entertainment, has been popular for its puzzle-themed quests and missions. One of the common gameplay elements in the earlier games is the players’ ability to interact with non-playable characters and objects in the environment. In the dialogues with NPCs, players are usually presented with various options on how to respond. Every choice affects how the game will conclude.
Square Enix has not said much about “Life Is Strange 3,” other than it is having its world premiere next week. Fans can then expect the game’s first trailer to be released during the event.
The game publisher also confirmed “Life Is Strange 3” will introduce an all-new protagonist, but their superhuman ability is still under wraps. This is not surprising, though, as every installment of the series featured stories with different main characters. In the first game, players followed the story of Max Caulfield, who learned of his ability to manipulate time after witnessing a tragic incident. In “Life Is Strange 2,” the plot revolved around brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz. The latter realized he had telekinetic power when they were forced to flee after their father was killed by a police officer.
‘Square Enix Presents’: Where to watch and what to expect
The event officially called Square Enix Presents, will run for around 40 minutes, so “Life Is Strange 3” is not the only announcement the game publisher has in store. Per the company’s blog post, updates about the upcoming “Outriders” and “Balan Wonderworld” are also in the pipeline.
Square Enix also hints at having more things to announce for the “Tomb Raider” franchise’s 25th anniversary and “Marvel’s Avengers.” Fans can tune in for the first trailer of “Life Is Strange 3” on March 18 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET via Twitch and YouTube channels.
