As soon as the box office hit “A Star Is Born” was released in theaters, rumors circulated that its leading stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper could be an item in real life. This led to numerous claims that the co-stars’ friendship is causing issues in Cooper’s relationship with Irina Shayk.
Earlier this week, Lady Gaga appeared on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” where the titular host congratulated the singer-actress on her Oscars 2019 performance with Cooper. Kimmel also commented their on-stage chemistry was so convincing that people on social media started saying they “must be in love.” To that, the “Million Reasons” singer responded with a very expressive eye-roll.
More fans speculated on the nature of Lady Gaga's — whose real name is Stefani Germanotta — relationship with Cooper after their very emotional Oscars performance of the song “Shallow” last Sunday. Some of the social media comments were even suggesting they might be having a “real-life affair.”
Lady Gaga explained that people “saw love” in her and Cooper's performance because that was exactly what they wanted viewers to see. She also revealed that all aspects of their on-stage show were entirely directed by Cooper from how the cameras rolled the entire song, the lighting, and even the way the piano was placed. “From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time,” Lady Gaga said.
“Look, I’ve had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world. I mean, when you’re singing love songs that’s what you want people to feel,” Lady Gaga further explained before reiterating that she is an artist. “I guess, we did a good job and fooled ya,” she added.
Another very obvious reason to doubt these romance rumors between Lady Gaga and Cooper is the fact that the latter is in a long-term relationship with supermodel Irina Shayk. The two have a daughter together and Shayk was reportedly not threatened by the emotional performance last Sunday. A source of Us Weekly said, “Irina knows that Bradley and Gaga are artists. It’s a non-issue for her. They were in character putting on an Oscar performance.”
