Japanese messaging app giant LINE has announced that its Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange, BITBOX, has commenced its operations.

Announced last month, the exchange platform went live on July 16 and supports 15 languages. BITBOX is available globally, with the exception of Japan and the United States.

“LINE has built its reputation on providing a great social experience for our users, and now we intend to bring that know-how to the world of digital tokens with our BITBOX exchange,” said LINE CEO Takeshi Idezawa. “With BITBOX, we intend to have an exchange that is easier to use, while also ensuring we provide extremely strong levels of security.”

BITBOX allows trading in nearly 30 digital tokens including Bitcoin (BTC), Ripple (XRP), Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin Gold (BTG), Litecoin (LTC), Qtum (QTUM), Kyber Network (KNC), VeChain (VEN), MonaCoin (MONA), Aion (AION), Salt (SALT), aelf (ELF), Golem (GNT), Stellar (XLM), Digibyte (DGB), Quantstamp (QSP), Status (SNT), ReddCoin (RDD), Nucleus Vision (NCASH), Civic (CVC), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Zilliqa (ZIL), Augur (REP), Omisego (OMG), 0x (ZRX), and others.

Importantly, the platform offers only crypto-to-crypto exchange services and does not support any crypto-to-fiat trading.

LINE also announced that it integrating the multi-signature technology offered by BitGo, the institutional-grade, multi-signature, multi-coin hot wallet, which will help eliminate any single point of failure. Also, advanced security configurations would ensure that assets are secure as they move in and out of the wallet.

LINE has announced a reward equivalent to US$10 to the first 2 million customers who register at BITBOX. Also, as a launch offer, registered users will be able to trade assets with zero trading fees for all the listed coins in the exchange during the first month.
