‘Jane the Virgin’ Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers: Will Jane Choose Rafael or Michael? Showrunner Explains How Series is Ending

Jane the Virgin

“Jane the Virgin” season 5 will be back but fans should know that this will be the last time to enjoy the show as it is already ending. The romantic-comedy drama is now on its final run and it is expected to end on a high note, with closures for some of the interesting storylines.

The “Jane the Virgin” season 5 finale was confirmed by its showrunner Brad Silberling as early as April. He explained that they have always known that the series will only run until the fifth installment.

“Yes, we are heading into the final season. It is a wonderful final season of the show and it is exactly as it was laid out,” Metro quoted him as saying. We’ve always known when it was going to end.”

The season 4 finale showed a huge twist and viewers were shocked. Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) knocked unannounced on Jane’s apartment’s door one day and this was surprising since everyone knew that he already died in the previous season.

What’s more, Jane Villanueva’s (Gina Rodriguez) current beau was at home with her when her ex-husband showed up. Apparently, Michael is alive, and how this came to be has yet to be explored in “Jane the Virgin” season 5.

Likewise, what the upcoming season should answer is whether Jane’s husband survived the gunshot or he just pretended to have died in order to run away from a case he was involved in. Also, “Jane the Virgin” season 5 will definitely reveal whom the main protagonist will end up with. Will she get back with her husband or move on with Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni), with whom she already fell in love with?

“Jane the Virgin” season 5 co-EP Jennie Snyder Urman hinted that Jane and Rafael’s relationship will be pretty much affected and shaken after Michael suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Although she did not divulge whom Jane will choose in the end, Urman hinted that there will be a wedding in the finale.

Via Deadline, Urman said, “It’ll end in a wedding is really what I can say.”

Finally, in addition to the re-emerging of the Rafael-Jane-Michael love triangle, Urman said that the show will delve into what really happened with Michael. Plus, it will also highlight how Petra will deal with the suspicions that she was the shooter who killed Anezka.

“Jane the Virgin” season 5’s premiere date is not yet available as of this time but the earliest that it will arrive is in January 2019.
