Interactive Brokers has expanded its cryptocurrency services by introducing Ethereum staking through a partnership with digital asset infrastructure provider Zerohash. The brokerage giant, which oversees more than $900 billion in client assets, aims to provide investors with additional opportunities to earn rewards from their cryptocurrency holdings.
According to an official announcement on October 13, the new crypto staking service is available to eligible Interactive Brokers clients, with Zerohash handling the staking infrastructure. The rollout initially focuses on Ethereum (ETH), allowing customers to participate in blockchain staking directly through the brokerage platform.
Eligible Interactive Brokers LLC customers can access the service through the Staking Dashboard within IBKR's Client Portal. The dashboard enables users to submit staking and unstaking requests while tracking pending transactions and managing their Ethereum holdings.
The launch strengthens Interactive Brokers' growing presence in the cryptocurrency market. The company already supports trading in up to 20 digital assets and previously introduced Bitcoin and Ethereum futures through a partnership with Coinbase Derivatives.
Interactive Brokers CEO Milan Galik compared the new staking offering to the company's Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which allows investors to generate additional income from securities they own.
"We want clients to earn more from the assets they hold," Galik stated, emphasizing the brokerage's commitment to expanding income-generating investment opportunities.
Despite the announcement, Interactive Brokers shares experienced downward pressure. IBKR stock traded near $87, declining more than 1% during the session, according to TradingView data.
The brokerage's shares have also weakened over the past week, recording a roughly 4% decline over the previous month. Nevertheless, IBKR remains up more than 32% year-to-date, reflecting its broader market performance.
Beyond cryptocurrency trading and Ethereum staking, Interactive Brokers has expanded into prediction markets. In May, the company introduced a unified prediction markets platform integrating contracts from Kalshi, CME, and ForecastEx.
The platform allows investors to compare similar prediction market contracts through a single searchable interface designed to identify competitive pricing.
With Ethereum staking now available, Interactive Brokers continues to diversify its digital asset offerings while bringing traditional brokerage services closer to the expanding cryptocurrency ecosystem.
