Heart attack: Two apples a day can keep heart attack symptoms away

The holiday season means a lot of stress, excitement, and also a lot of food and drink. But a way to keep the symptoms of a heart attack and prevent it from happening altogether can be done just by taking two of this kind of food everyday.

Express reports that eating two apples everyday can lower a person’s cholesterol. A study was conducted with participants who had slightly high cholesterol levels. Over an eight-week period, they ate two large apples every day, and at the end of the experiment found that their bad cholesterol levels lowered by nearly four percent. This in part because of apples having a high fiber content, which promotes the good bacteria in the digestive system resulting in lowered levels of bad cholesterol while the good cholesterol stayed the same.

The researchers also found that eating apples every day led to more relaxed blood vessels. The effect is similar to those who drink red wine and tea for their heart, foods that contain polyphenol.

Another finding from the study was that this was more beneficial for women than for men, but this is still subject to further studies to see if it is true. Apples can be incorporated into the Mediterranean diet, a kind of diet plan that is recommended by doctors to those who suffer from heart disease or those who want to prevent the onset of heart disease.

But aside from apples, Express previously reported that drinking hot chocolate can also reduce the risk or help prevent the symptoms of heart attacks. Two studies on this found that hot chocolate can help prevent heart attacks from happening. One of the two studies found that drinking hot chocolate can help lower the risk of a heart attack over the course of 10 years by 31 percent. This is due to the fact that chocolate contained a plant-based nutrient known as flavanols, which aid in heart function over time.

This particular study had 42 male participants, and it found to have benefits to those under 35 years old and also to those who were within the age range of 50 to 80 years old. The flavonols were found to improve vasodilation or the widening of blood vessels. The younger participants’ vasodilation improved by 33 percent while the older group improved by 32 percent.
