A “Grimm” spinoff is coming soon as NBC revealed that it is developing a drama based on the original TV series that concluded in March of last year. However, the project has no official title yet so in the meantime, they simply refer to it as a spinoff.
What is interesting is that the “Grimm” spinoff is set to feature a female protagonist. While she will be the lead character in the fairytale-themed supernatural drama, Deadline reported that it will still include some of the support characters in the original series. Of course, new actors are expected to join the cast since the plot will be different.
Now, with the announcement that a “Grimm” spinoff is in the works, actor David Giuntoli expressed excitement about the new show. He was the lead star in the “Grimm” series and played Detective Nick Burkhardt from 2011 to 2017, so he is already a big fan of the still untitled drama.
"I could not be more thrilled that NBC is developing a Grimm spin-off. I thought it was such a wonderful show and we built just a vibrant, colorful world," TV Guide quoted David Giuntoli as saying. “To not be able to play in that world any longer seems like such a waste. So I could not be happier for everyone involved in the Grimm spin-off."
At any rate, while NBC is planning a female lead in the “Grimm” spinoff, it was said that the network is also trying to find a way to keep David on the show. With regards to the female lead, based on reports, the production team has yet to choose who will play the role. Melissa Glen has been assigned to write the script for the “Grimm” spinoff and co-creators Greenwalt and James Kouf will remain as consulting producers.
The “Grimm” spinoff’s release date is not yet available. Fans should wait until it actually goes into production and an airdate can be confirmed.
