“Gravity Rush 2” is the sequel to the hit “PlayStation Vita” game, which was then re-mastered for the “PlayStation 4.” With the second installment coming in December, players will take the reins of “Kat” once again to join gravity-defying battles with fast-paced action. Before fans can do so, however, they can watch the anime that’s based on the game since it will be released sooner.
As Digital Trends reports, fans of the game will have to wait until December to get their hands on the gothic, supernatural title. As PlayStation associate product marketing manager Brian Dunn explains, however, “Kat” won’t by fighting alone.
“Gravity Rush 2 marks the return of gravity shits Kat and Raven,” Dunn says. “The first new face to join the expansive world of Gravity Rush 2 is the mysterious guardian angel, who shows up to help Kat when she’s in a bind, quickly dispensing of a group of pesky Nevi enemies.”
The gothic quality of the game as well as the clear rock-inspired themes are among the most appealing aspects of the original game. For the sequel, it seems the developers decided to double down on these aspects and even made the world more expansive.
Compared to the first game, the sequel clearly benefited from the powerhouse that is the “PS4.” Based on the trailer that was released, it’s clear that the textures, lighting effects, and even fighting mechanics saw significant improvements.
When it comes to the anime, Polygon reports that it will be released before the December date for the game. Called “Gravity Rush the Animation ~Overture~,” the anime is being produced by “Studio Khara,” which is the studio behind the “Rebuild of Evangelion.”
There’s no definite date announced for when the anime will come out, but it’s certain that it will be before the video game is released. Pre-orders for the game will also net players an exclusive white costume for “Kat” and a special soundtrack.
